Made with love in Port Townsend, Washington.
When I first moved to Port Townsend, WA from Colorado in 2015, someone I had just met asked me what my passion was. Honestly, I didn’t feel like I had one - I just enjoyed hiking and nature, but no real passion or creativity that brought me joy. Little did I know that it would be sea glass. I started hiking the 3 miles (one way) out to Glass Beach once or twice a week to collect beautiful pieces of sea glass and experience the peace and tranquility of beachcombing and being by the sea. Then I became inspired to create something with these beach-found jewels, and taught myself how to make jewelry. Salish Sea Creations was born! All my sea glass is exactly as found on the beach by me, except for being drilled and rubbed with some coconut, baby, or mineral oil to remove the salt and bring out the true color and shine. I never machine tumble the sea glass. To keep the sea glass bright, you may periodically re-apply a small amount of oil. These treasures originated from a pre-1960’s beach garbage dump. They have been tumbling in the surf for decades. Giving new life to “trash turned treasure” brings me happiness, and hopefully it will also bring much joy to those who own a piece!
